August 26. Don't try this at home.

After unpacking, doing laundry, and opening mail all day, I drove the truck and trailer to the boatlaunch at Lake Erie Metro Park while Bill, Bruce, Erika and Toby sailed down there. I thought I did a fair job of backing down the ramp close to the boat, but Bill stopped me. He did not want to use the ramp where the boat was tied. so he pulled out and backed the truck into the next (empty) ramp, and we moved the boat there.
After pulling it out of the water (uneventful) we drove to an empty spot in the parking lot to take down the sails, lower the mast and secure it for transporting (we are driving it up to Rogers City and sailing home).
While we were wrapping it up, Erika saw from her high perch on our boat that a small truck had backed in to pick up a jet ski on the ramp that Bill did not want to use. The guy set the parking brake and got out of the truck..... The truck then slid down into the water, and kept on going. Soon it was floating... and then it was sinking! The photo above, taken from my phone at dusk, shows the roof of the truck. You can't tell from the photo, but the dome light was still on.
After the truck got away, the driver swam out to get his wallet and phone from the truck, then swam again to save the jet ski. The park police came, and as we were driving away a tow truck was arriving. Sigh.
(I tried to take the photo without being seen by the owner, not wanting to embarrass him).

Who is Pedro Garcia Millan?
We see things like that on America's Funniest Home videos all the time. It's funny to watch; but I do feel sorry for the boater.
