April 1, 2011. Kerrville, TX. Rest day

Dianne and I met Alice in the lobby at 9 AM as planned and walked to "Save Inn", the place that was voted "Best Breakfast in Kerrville". And it was great! We had oatmeal pancakes, among other things....
Then we crossed the street to Billy's Western Wear, where we spent the next hour or so shopping for fun western things for people at home.

The Western Store agreed to send my purchases home, which suited me fine! You can't carry much on a bike trip, after all... We walked back to the hotel, where Dianne and Alice packed up their winter bike clothes. We shared a shuttle ride into town, stopping first at the post office so they could mail home their winter wear.
The photo above is the town museum, which was once the home of Colonel (or was it Captain?) Schreiner, a bigger than life local nabob. He came here as a young man, spent time in the Texas Rangers and fought in the Civil War. At one point in the early 1900s he just about owned the whole town.

Now we are getting ready for tomorrow. We will be back on the road early heading for Blanco, TX, 65 miles from here.

That sounds like a fun day - eating, shopping, sight seeing. All good.
