May 11, 2012. yazoo City to Indianola, MS. 60 miles.

It was supposed to be 54 miles today, was closer to 57 when we rolled into Indianola.... the last few miles were us looking for food... every kind of fast food imaginable, but no real restaurant. We finally ate at Subway. Places like this make us glad we have a chef on this tour!

Shortly after leaving Yazoo City we came upon this bridge across a flooded area. The trees were inundated... We took some photos and got back on the bikes. It was all flat riding today--we are in the Mississippi Delta. We were on highway 149 for 25 miles, then made a turn onto highway 49. Not a lot to see on this day, but we passed through Belzoni, the Catfish Capital of the World! We did not stop at the Catfish Museum. I wonder what's there?

We were on highway 49 for 27 miles, a good 10 miles of that with a tailwind! Indianola is the birthplace of BB King, and we saw the sign for the BB King Museum, but headed straight to lunch. I had been thinking I might take a swim today, but changed my mind when I saw this green fuzzy pool. And this is a Best Western Inn! NOt much to do about it but play Scrabble;-)
