September 20, 2017. At Crosby, MN.

Steinarr awakened us with one blast of the elk horn and summoned us to breakfast with 2 blasts. Notice our utensils--we each were given a knife for eating all meals here.

Bill and Fred then drove out to see the potential short rides we discussed for today while the rest of us went to town to do laundry. The serpent is in the town park.

We don't wear regular shoes while in the Nordic Inn--there is a rack of Viking shoes just inside the door and we wear them while in the building.

Fred and Bill reported back that the ride around Mille Lacs Lake was too far away and too long, and that there was damage from a reported tornado--that explains the sirens in the middle of the night! Dennis, Tom, Diana and I decided to go for a casual ride and headed out of Crosby to the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail.

It was another beautiful trail, with lakes and mountain bike trails on both sides. We rode past several lakes that formed over abandoned iron ore mines.

We rode the trail as far as it went in both directions and then returned to the inn to get into our costumes for tonight's entertainment.

We appointed Bill as King, and he chose Diana for his Queen. Valdi explained to Diana what her queenly duties would be. She was less than thrilled.

The King lit the candles for the virtues and we all toasted his longevity.

We then went through a variety of medieval competitions; the losers ended up in the stocks, where they had to perform a song and dance to get released.

We finally were summoned to dinner, a five course meal. By the time the fourth course was served most of us were unable to eat another bite! After dinner we went back up to the main floor where we finished our competitions and voted the King as "bad". Queen Diana got her revenge.

We all lined up on the stairs for a photo and called it a night.
