We saw monuments to World War I in front of the museum.
There was a very cool tree in the park--its wide limbs were of variegated bark. I've not seen this variety of tree before.
We came to a different series of steps today--we went up 6 long sets of stairs thinking we would end up at the castle, but we did not. We found ourselves in a park near a lot of expensive homes.
The most interesting monument in the park was a circle containing statues of Jesus Christ, Buddha, LaoTse, St. Francis of Assisi, Mahatma Gandhi. Abraham, and a few we didn't know.
There was a representation of the merging together of Buda and Pest.
Finally we were out of time. When we got to to the airport it was crazy! The lines for the different airlines were all jumbled together, mixing with a huge wide line for pre-flight security checks. We were very glad we arrived early!
We got through security and bought some Hungarian chocolate at the duty free store--it was then that I realized I did not have my boarding pass! I walked back to security and it was there... we boarded a very full 767 for our flight to Toronto. Customs at Toronto was a breeze.
We took the plane you see below for the short flight from Toronto to Windsor. The border crossing was uneventful, and we were home by around 10:30 PM. Of course we'd been up almost 24 hours by then.
