We bused back across the river and hauled the boats down to the landing. This was to be another short day so we were not in a big hurry... We talked with Cece and Ron, whom we remembered from other Rumbles.
Our morning break was at a sandbar right after we passed under an old train bridge. The St. Croix River Association greeted us with smiles, snacks, soft drinks and coffee! What a treat!
While on break I discussed my injured hand with Jane, who is a physical therapist. She and Ron both wore the 2004 Rumble shirt today.
Pete spent most of his break teaching paddling skills, but took a moment for a snack and photo with Mary Jo and Cindy.
We arrived at Marine on St. Croix, carried our boats up a hill and set up camp in town parks. This is a charming little town with several bars and restaurants and a very busy General Store.
Bill and I had dinner at a bar with a group from the Rumble. After dinner we went back to the tent, and Bill was already sleeping when the fire alarm went off around 9:30 PM. This is a small town with a volunteer fire department, and the siren sounded for a very long time...
