June 13 Crawfardsville to Indianapolis, IN 64 miles

Photos are from yesterday. We had a helmet decorating contest, and I just found that sign a lot of fun.
Today's ride was 64 very wet miles! We woke up to thunder and lightning, but that passed through by the time we left... no thunder, just wind and a light rain. We had an option to go to the velodrome and play, but it was raining so hard that I don't think anyone went.

Today's ride was a real hoot--there were almost 60 turns in the 64 miles we rode! We started out left, left, straight, left out of the hotel and then had 16 miles on rte 136 East (of course the wind was from the south). After that 16 mile straight stretch we had just in the next 10 miles a left, right, left, right, straight, right, left, right, left, right and a right into the sag!

I rode with Randy and Bob all day, which was nice. Not a good day to be out there alone! After the sag, which was held at a farmhouse, we went left, right, right, left, right, left, straight, left, and straight. That is where we found George, sitting on his bike at the side of the road very confused. Apparently he had taken a wrong turn or two and was very glad to see us! We kept him close the rest of the day. After we picked up George the weather got more ominous, but we still had all those turns! 29 more turns after we met up with him at mile 42! He was grumbling about it and said no way would he have found his way without us... he said something about showing up in Boston instead of Indianapolis...

The traffic was pretty bad coming into town even though we rode through several subdivisions to avoid main streets. By then it was pouring rain and the lightning and thunder were getting closer. Got into the hotel at 1:30, without lunch. (that's next on the agenda).

Quote of the day from Randy: We had more turns today than we did in Arizona! (a true statement).
