Easter Season

It's always busy around here, sometimes more than others...

Good Friday the four younger grandchildren came over to color eggs, a tradition we started when Toby was 2 years old. Now that he's 16  he is not so interested but the little ones still love it.

They all had a turn pouring water into the cups to mix the dye. You can see they took it very seriously.

I boiled 3 dozen eggs this year and that was almost enough. Zane did not want to be done, so I let him dip some of the eggs the other kids had already dyed. A good time was had by all, and after the dyeing of the eggs they got to play outside, always a fun activity in our big yard.

Saturday morning I went for a bike ride with Fred, Tom and Martha. How cold was it? It was so cold that NO ONE else was out and about at the Metropark to take our photo! (29 degrees). So we took them 2 by 2. It was great fun to ride with Tom again. We're all glad he is back on the bike after the crash and broken neck last fall. He is riding strong too!

Easter morning I was up at 6:30 to put the ham in the oven and the beans in the crock pot. We all went to Mass and then everyone came here for brunch and an egg hunt in the back yard. Alison made a very cool fruit plate, Bill and Ursula brought homemade macaroni and cheese, deviled eggs and cake, Erika brought homemade key lime pie and ice cream sandwiches.

Each kid had 15 specific eggs to find, and it took over an hour! Grandma hid them very well, the older the kid the more obscure the hiding place!

When they were done we lined up for a family photo, a little too sunny, but here we all are. Front left to right: Adam, Alison, Zane, Francis, Sydney, Delia, me. Standing left to right: Bill, Lucas, Toby and Erika.
