PALM Day 5. June 28, 2018.

Today's route, Otisville to Almont was 48 miles. We lined up in the bright sunshine and left the school about 8:30 AM.

We had one glitch at lunchtime. The fruit stop was at 17.8 miles, and that's where the truck was parked so we ate lunch. Adam and Zane were playing rough and Delia got into the middle of it and got kicked in the shin. It took a while before she was ready to get back on the bike. Adam got in the truck with Alison, Zane and Bill, planning to ride the last 10 miles with them.

Delia and I rode alone the last 31 miles. We stopped at the licorice stop, always the last stop of the day. Doris has been the "licorice lady" for 15 years, and she always has a smile on her face.

When Delia and I were about 3 miles from the end of the ride Alison came out to find us, knowing we were without a phone. My friend Lisa was here to visit--she lives near here. She invited us to dinner, but I told her I could not leave Alison to try and go through the cafeteria line with all 3 kids. Toby and Dianne took her up on her offer and had a great dinner while the rest of us ate pasta (again).

This was a very noisy night--there are ponds on the property of Almont Middle School and the peepers and bull frogs kept up their serenade all night long. And the variety of birds cawing shrieking and singing at 5 AM was truly amazing. It was like sleeping in the jungle!
