PALM Day 4. June 27, 2018.

It started raining as we were taking down the tents. Toby was long gone by then, having signed up for the Century (100 mile) ride. We decided not to require the smaller kids to ride in the rain, which was predicted to last all day.

Martha, Tom and Dennis left on their bikes and the rest of us found a dry place in the school. I stopped a woman to talk about her Rosie the Riveter jersey, and when we found out her name was Hope we had to get a photo with Delia, whose middle name is Hope. I don't think Delia had ever met another Hope before this!

We settled in the hallway after breakfast, Alison and the kids playing Uno and Dianne and I playing Scrabble (of course).

When it was time to leave Owosso we were short one seat belt so I opted to ride in the trailer with the bikes, tents and luggage, thus saving Bill the trouble of driving all the way back to get me. When we arrived at Lakeville Middle School it was still raining, so we put up the canopy to unload our stuff.

Dennis, Martha and Tom arrived and set up their tents. At around 3:30 I asked for help and Delia, Tom and I set up Toby's tent. I felt bad for him riding his first century in the pouring rain. Dianne read to Zane and Delia under the canopy. It sure pays to have our own truck and trailer on this ride!

Toby arrived wet, tired and happy. Unfortunately there was lasagna for dinner--this is the second pasta night this week and he can't eat the pasta! I asked the kitchen workers to make him a plate without the lasagna noodles so they scraped some meat sauce into a pile and added a couple of slices of cheese. He could not even eat the green beans (prepared with almonds) or the dessert (cookies).

At tonight's meeting they recognized all the people who rode the century, including Toby and his friend Ian. Toby and Ian are both in great shape after rowing season--they consider biking easy now, even biking 100 miles!
