September 15, 2018. Salzburg, Austria.

We packed up our room this morning and left our bags at the desk while we walked around Salzburg. We went to St. Sebastian's church first--it's nearby and we just hadn't been there yet.

The current church was built in 1785. The Archbishop created a scandal when he had graves moved to the new church. The earliest plaque I found was from 1666.

Leopold Mozart (the composer's father) is buried here with his second wife. Amadeus and his mother are not here; they died elsewhere.

We walked across the bridge to old town and found our way to St. Peter's church.

St. Peter's is an abbey founded in 803, although the church was built much later.

There was a nice view of the castle from St. Peter's. It looks much brighter when it's not pouring rain!

It is said that this is the cemetery that was the inspiration for the cemetery scene in the Sound of Music movie.

My feet were killing me by this time! We stopped at a little Italian place and split a pannini and a tirimisu. This was the best tiramisu I've tasted ever!

Then we crossed the bridge and walked over to see Mozart's home and went back to the Mirabell Gardens.

I had not seen the famous dwarfs yesterday--they are purported to be images of dwarfs who worked at the palace centuries ago.

We walked back to our hotel, retrieved our luggage, and called a taxi to bring us to our next hotel. We meet the bike tour for dinner tonight, and then we'll be off on another adventure!
