The Village: November 2019

It took a long time to set up this year--we decided to redo the entire floor plan so that small people and older people could get in to see the whole thing without stepping over a train trestle. You can see in the photo below that it's a wide open space. It's 28 feet from the fireplace wall to the wall next to the circus (just out of the picture).

The farm is at the northwest corner this year, with the ski lodge above it in the mountains.

The lake is in front of the fireplace, giving us more room in the middle of the display.

The planetarium and university are inside the fireplace, as always.

Maple sugar shack and windmill are in the northeast corner.

The Polar Express train stops at the train station in the middle of town.

There are 2 freight trains running on the floor level--Chessie and the old nickel-plate locomotive.

I have a photo of me sitting on top of a tunnel on the C and O canal trail, so I repainted the sitting woman to look like me and perched her on the tunnel.

The skaters are still skating, more than 30 years after they started.

The circus is going strong, created to make use of Bill's circus train.

It's always a pleasure to have this display going, and to share it with our friends and relatives. Happy Holidays!
