San Francisco. August 27, 2023

Dianne's sister Julie came in late last night on AMTRAK. She had to take a bus from the train station, and Damon and Dianne picked her up at the bus station. It was quite an ordeal for her--3 days on the train and then the bus. I guess I'd rather fly.

Damon and his wife Kirsten rented a Zip Car today so we could all go out together--their car will not hold them, their son Carson in a booster seat, and all three of us. We first went to Ethel's Delicatessen in Petaluma where we met Dianne's cousins Roz, Joni and Lehua. The deli is named after the cousins' mother Ethel, and is owned and operated by Roz's son Nick.

I got to be the photographer for this small family reunion. From left: Julie, Lehua, Joni, Dianne Roz, Damon, Carson and Kirsten. We had a a wonderful time, and the food was delicious.: we stayed at Ethel's until they closed the doors! After that we went to China Beach, which was nearly deserted. It is a State Park now, but was once the fishing village where early San Francisco Chinese settlers had their businesses. It was a lovely day.

After the beach we all went to the Spinnaker restaurant in Sausalito--Dianne's 3 cousins, Julie, Dianne, Damon, Kirsten and Carson, and me. After dinner we strolled through the town and had ice cream.

We could see the hazy San Francisco skyline across the bay. All in all it was a very enjoyable day.
