This morning we biked out of our cottages. Dianne and Tom avoided the large hill from the lakeshore to the main road. The rest of us toughed it out.
We cycled across the height of the land over to Seneca Lake and rode along the lakeshore there. It was a wonderful ride! This entire area is known for its wineries. We passed many wineries and historical plaques.
We took a short break at Hector Falls, right along the road we were riding. The views of Seneca Lake were breathtaking, with the vineyards and forests all along the way.
We cycled down to Watkins Glen, where we met Bill and Doris and ate the lunch we had packed this morning. Then we all walked over to Watkins Glen State Park to hike the many waterfalls. There are 19 waterfalls that can be seen by hiking up 800 stone steps.
We were happy to get back to our cottages on Cayuga Lake! We biked 29 miles and then hiked the gorge. Quite enough for one day!
