October 4, 2023

Bill drove us up to Geneva, NY to start our ride today.  We'd planned to ride back to our cottages. Tom was under the weather and chose not to ride today.

The bike route took us on a dirt trail within the first few miles, so Dianne called Bill to pick her up. The only problem was that she did not tell us! So I biked back to the beginning of the dirt trail just in time to see her leaving with Bill and Doris!

Dianne rejoined us on the paved route. It was not flat! We rode along Seneca Lake, and then got on a path, also along the lakeshore.

We came upon the Simpson State Park and the World War 2 Museum there. It took us about an hour to walk through the old barracks that have been turned into a museum.

We continued on our way, meeting Bill, Doris and Tom in the small town of Willard. We rode through some serious road construction and then climbed a big hill to meet the van right across from this little church.

Dianne got back in the van and the rest of us got back on our bikes to ride to the Thirsty Owl Winery (near our cottages) for lunch. But when we got there they were not serving lunch! They recommended we go up the road to Knapp Winery. We had already loaded the bikes in the trailer so we drove there and had a nice lunch and wine tasting. Total miles biked today: 31.
