September 6, 2017. Gordon Island.

I did laundry this morning at Gananoque and we set out to explore some more of the thousand islands. First we cruised by Gordon Island, but we really wanted to stay at Camelot or Endymion, so we kept going. We made our way south, sailing when we could and motoring when we had to. When we reached Camelot Island we found signs stating that the docks were closed, $10,000 fine for using! We then went to Endymion and found the same signs on one set of docks and four large boats on the other.

We were quite close to the New York coastline, so I turned on my phone and googled Thousand Island National Parks Docks Closed and found a long list of docks and other facilities closed due to high water. We sailed back to Gordon Island and found we were all alone there.

Gordon Island is lovely, with structures there, unlike Beau Rivage where we stayed a couple of nights ago. There is a picnic shelter right near the dock, and a gazebo just down the trail. The gazebo was built over 100 years ago when this first became a National Park. There had been 11 gazebos on the various islands in the park, but only 3 remain.

The red chairs are near the gazebo. I had seen 2 red chairs at the other islands, and hiked up to the ones on Beau Rivage.  It seems that they are on all the 1000 Islands National Park islands, always with a great view.

We were all alone on the island; it was very quiet. We decided to have an early dinner before the rain came in.
