Las Vegas! May 23-27, 2011

Bill and I celebrated our anniversary May 15, and decided to do something about it! So we took a trip to Las Vegas. I had never been there, and do not gamble so was understandably leary about the whole thing... but he wanted to see Cirque du Soleil in its home theatre, so away we went! We were bowled over by the show! I was nearly in tears at the end. It's hard to explain why it affected me that way... it was just incredible the things they did!

We walked up and down the strip several times, seeing all the sights. Of course we have tons more photos.... they will eventually be scrapbooked. Below is the canal at the Venetian.

We took a van tour to Hoover Dam, which was spectacular! What a feat it was to build this in the middle of the desert in the middle of the depression!

We spent several hours there, and were glad to have taken the bus--we did not rent a car, and found that we really did not need one.

We spent an evening watching the indoor jousting at Ex Calibur, eating cornish hens, broccoli and roasted potatoes with our hands.... and flew home on Thursday having spent not a penny on a slot machine or any other means of gambling. It was a great getaway to celebrate our anniversary and enjoy ourselves with no interruptions (no bikes, no grass to cut....).
