February 2-4, 2021

We left Ann Arbor Michigan the morning of February 2, right after I received my asthma injection. We had decided ahead of time to drive straight through to Homosassa, FL, where we rented a place for the month of February.

We arrived at our place at 3 AM. It was a long drive, but due to COVID concerns we did not want to stay anywhere along the way; in fact we did not even stop at a restaurant along the way, opting instead to eat rollup sandwiches in the truck at various rest areas.

The place we rented is part of a small resort. We are in the double-wide trailer above, with our truck parked in front of it. The trailer just right of ours is where our friends Fred and Doris are staying. We are definitely off the beaten path! We are right on the Homosassa River, a short paddle from the Homosassa Springs.

We went for a walk on the 3rd, but had not much energy for anything. On Feb 4 we made up for it! We went for a paddle out to the springs in the morning and biked 22 miles in the afternoon.

Fred and Doris brought Zero with them--he likes being in the kayak! We saw a lot of manatees. They come into the springs where it is warm. The shadows in the photo below are manatees.

We met our friend Tom at Brooksville and rode the Friendship Trail to the Withlacoochee Trail. It's always fun to see our Michigan friends when we are down here.
