September 2, 2017. Thousand Islands, Ontario.

We left Kingston this morning under sail. This is the adventure we've been planning for 2 years!

Looking back at Kingston we saw the bridge closing. We deliberately chose the Olympic Harbor Marina so we would not have to deal with the bridge. The other marina is beyond the bridge.

The ferry came across from Wolfe Island to Kingston--this is the same ferry we loaded all our bikes on when we rode around Lake Ontario.

We saw behind us all the places we did not go when we were in Kingston. I think we will have to come back here again.

Fort Henry was on shore just outside Kingston--this was an important outpost during the War of 1812.

I took the tiller so Bill could tweak the instrumentation and put in our waypoints. I am wearing my new lifejacket, bought at WalMart in Kingston since mine inadvertently got left behind in my kayak.

Before we got to the Thousand Islands we had to start the motor--we were going directly into the wind. The only boats sailing were going the other way. There were a lot of boats out there!

We had intended to dock at Aubrey Island, but all the docks were taken. We went partway around Mermaid Island and found the same thing.

Finally we docked at Beau Rivage Island; there were 3 docks at our location and large power boats were already tied up at 2 of them. we were barely tied up on the third one when another power boat pulled up looking for our spot. We decided to stay where we were until Labor Day! We were in the lee of the island and it was very warm and sunny.

Before sunset one of the power boats left and went to a boatel on one of the islands because the woman could not fathom being without electricity overnight!

We had a lovely dinner, Bill and I had a glass of wine, and we were in our beds by the time it was full dark. What a great day!
